ABOUT US

The Australia Highlanders Pipe Band (formerly Nunawading) of Melbourne, Australia in 1956.  Since that time, the band has become one of the most successful pipe bands in Australasia, achieving success in both national and international competitions

Under the direction of Pipe Major Danny Boyle and Drum Major Alistair Boyle and wearing the Australia Highlanders tartan, the band consists of a talented corp of over 40 players with a rich blend of youth and experience.  Although the members predominantly reside in Victoria, the band has over recent years attracted pipers and drummers from abroad including, Scotland, Ireland, Northern Ireland, England, United States of America, Canada, New Zealand as well as across Australian cities, Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane & Sydney.  An appeal only synonymous with the biggest and best bands in the world.

In addition to a full and arduous competition schedule, the Australia Highlanders perform an annual concert series across Victoria, titled Celtic Connections...downunder.  Also appearing on radio and television, as well as civic, social and corporate functions...(including, The Caulfield Cup, Caulfield Guinees, The Melbourne Cup, Federation Square @ NYE, Anzac Day Parades to name but a few).

Current Grade 1 Australian and Victorian Champions and 11th in the final at the 2006 World Championshipsthe Australia Highlanders are a major force in the competition arena, their record speaks for itself.  Since 2001, the band has captured 25 first places and 3 second prizes from 27 competitions within Australiasia.  Internationally, the band finished 4th at Bridge of Allan, 4th in the Qualifying Heat at the 2006 Worlds Championships and 11th in the Grade 1 final.  Aus High, as they are affectionately known, are taking big steps on the World stage.

As we move forward, one thing is certain....

The Australia Highlanders Pipe Band will continue to strive for success and excellence, Sans Peur (Without Fear), a motto proudly displayed on the band crest.
